If you own a Verizon (or even a Sprint) phone, this program is for you! Create MP3 ringtones, create custom wallpaper from your digital photos, synchronize your contacts and calendar and more! There is one obstacle you must overcome though: you must manage to connect your phone to your computer (which is not as hard as it sounds).

Is Your Phone Compatible?
Bitpim is compatible with phones based on the Qualcomm chipset. Most of Verizon's phones use it. You can find the up-to-date info on the Bitpim web site. In particular, the following brands are likely work with Bitpim.
- LG
- AudioVox
- Samsung
- Sanyo
- Toshiba

Bitpim does not support these brands of mobile phones sold by Verizon:
- Nokia
- Motorola (Sorry RAZR owners!)
- Kyocera

Connecting Your Phone to Your PC
You connect your phone to your PC either by a USB cable or wirelessly through Bluetooth. Bluetooth is the coolest if that is an option for you. If not, you will need to purchase a USB cable.
In order to connect through Bluetooth, your phone must support it. Only newer phones (like the LG VX8100) and the more expensive phones (like the "V" from Verizon) have Bluetooth. Your computer must also have Bluetooth capability.
If you need to go the USB route, the most consumer-friendly product line is called DataPilot from Susteen. They make the USB cables you will need. They also make software similar to Bitpim. It is not quite as feature-rich but certainly more user-friendly. You can use both the Bitpim and DataPilot software on the same computer.

What Can It Do For Me?
Bitpim does so much, I'd be writing this review forever if I went into detail on each feature! Here are the highlights:
- Transfer your phone numbers from your computer to your cell phone (and back).
- Create custom ringtones from your MP3 or MIDI file collection.
- Copy your digital photos over to create your own background wallpaper. It crops and shrinks the pictures to fit your wireless phone's screen.
- Transfer your camera phone photos and videos to your computer and avoid picture message charges.
- Synchronize your appointment scheduler.
- Listen to your own, full-length MP3s on your phone instead of buying songs from V Cast Music.
- Use your phone as a wireless modem while traveling. (Be sure to check your service agreement before attempting this one!)
